Leh Ladakh 8 day itinerary ( Leh - Nubra - Turtuk - Pangong - Hanle - Tso Moriri - Puga - Leh)
The total cost of our trip was $973 for two (all inclusive)
Ladakh isn’t just a destination—it’s an emotion. A place where rugged adventure meets surreal beauty and deep, calming silence. Over 8 days, we experienced landscapes that felt unreal, moments that felt timeless, and a kind of peace that stays with you long after you leave.

Day 1: Arrival in Leh – First Glimpse of Magic
We landed in Leh around 1 PM—arguably one of the most scenic airport landings you’ll ever experience. Snow-capped mountains welcomed us before we even stepped out.
After checking into a cozy hotel near Leh Market, we rested briefly (acclimatization is key!) and then stepped out to explore.
We rented a bike for a day and a half and rode through the charming streets to Leh Market. Our first meal in Ladakh? Steaming momos, thukpa, and fried rice at a café overlooking the bustling market—simple, comforting, and perfect.
As the evening set in, we rode up to Shanti Stupa. Watching the sunset over Leh from here was nothing short of magical—golden hues washing over the mountains and the town below.
We wrapped up the day with shopping (finally got my long-awaited Tibetan singing bowl!) and dinner at the iconic The Tibetan Kitchen.
Day 2: Monasteries, Mysteries & Mountain Views
After a hearty breakfast, we set out to explore the outskirts of Leh.
First stop: Magnetic Hill, where gravity seems to take a break. Then on to the stunning Zanskar-Indus Confluence, where two rivers meet in contrasting colors—a mesmerizing sight.
Post lunch, we visited the peaceful Thiksey Monastery, soaking in its spiritual calm and panoramic views.
Evening brought us back to Leh Market for more exploring, followed by a cozy rooftop dinner—vegan pizza, roasted pumpkin soup, and a dreamy hazelnut chocolate cake. A perfect end to a beautiful day.
Day 3: Nubra Valley – Where Landscapes Surprise You
We began our journey to Nubra Valley in a shared Innova Crysta—comfortable and scenic all the way.
Driving through Khardung La Pass, one of the highest motorable roads in the world, was thrilling.
But the real highlight? An unplanned stop at a quiet stream surrounded by meadows, mountains, cows, and dogs—it felt like stepping into a postcard.
We visited the towering Maitreya Buddha Statue and checked into one of the best stays in Nubra.
Later, we explored the Hunder Sand Dunes—a surreal desert amidst mountains—complete with double-humped Bactrian camels and fun activities like archery.
The evening ended at a charming artisanal bazaar with fairy lights, music, and a stream flowing nearby—pure wholesome vibes.
Day 4: Turtuk – A Fairytale Village
A drive to Turtuk Village revealed a completely different side of Ladakh—lush, green, and full of life.
With streams flowing through every corner and a rich cultural history, the village felt warm and welcoming. We explored the local museum, bunkers, and traditional cold storage spaces.
Lunch at a riverside café, long walks through the village, and shopping for local products like apricots, saffron, and seabuckthorn made the day memorable.
Back at our hotel, we enjoyed sunset views over Hunder and ended the day with a cultural evening at a nearby resort.
Day 5: Pangong – A Dream in Shades of Blue
We drove through breathtaking routes via Wari La Pass and Chang La Pass, witnessing snow and surreal landscapes and finally reached the iconic Pangong Lake—a place that truly feels unreal as it shifts colors with the light.
We chose to stay in Merak Village for a quieter, less crowded experience—and it was the best decision.
A cozy guesthouse, heartfelt conversations with fellow travellers, and a home-cooked dinner made this day incredibly special.
Day 6: Hanle – Where Stars Feel Within Reach
After a peaceful morning by Pangong, we drove towards Hanle.
We stopped at the historic Rezang La War Memorial, paying tribute and learning about the past.
By evening, we reached Hanle and visited the Indian Astronomical Observatory—one of the highest observatories in the world.
That night was unforgettable. With zero light pollution and near a new moon, we witnessed the Milky Way in all its glory. Using a telescope, we spotted Saturn and some bright stars.
It felt like the universe had come closer just for us.
Day 7: Lakes, Valleys & Hot Springs
The journey continued to the pristine Tso Moriri Lake, a calm and untouched beauty.
Then on to the geothermal wonders of Puga Valley, followed by a relaxing stop at Chumathang Hot Springs.
By evening, we were back in Leh—just in time for some last-minute shopping and a quiet dinner.
Day 8: Goodbye, Ladakh
Our final morning was slow and peaceful—walking through the hotel garden, enjoying fresh produce, and savoring one last plate of momos and thukpa.
As we headed to the airport, it didn’t feel like a goodbye—just a promise to return.
Good to Know Before You Go
Flights and road journeys are part of the experience—choose window seats whenever possible.
You’ll be welcomed with seabuckthorn juice almost everywhere—don’t miss it!
Acclimatise for at least 48 hours before heading to higher altitudes.
Carry essential medicines and confirm your driver has an oxygen cylinder.
Even with a budget of 973$, you can enjoy premium stays and experiences with proper planning and negotiation.
Final Thoughts
What made this trip special wasn’t just the places—it was the moments in between. The unexpected stops, the conversations with strangers, the silence of the mountains, and the vastness of the night sky.
